Jigsaw Puzzle

Hi Jungrok,

I love your Jigsaw Puzzle project! I enjoyed looking at your project during Dress Rehearsal. Your project has truly intrigued me; perhaps because I am a teacher myself. I think puzzles are a great way to help kids learn. After Dress Rehearsal, I took another more in-depth look at your project so I could give you some feedback. There are a few areas I want to comment on.

One, I really like the way you've laid out your site. It is exciting and kid friendly. The color scheme, animations, and navigation are done well. Two, I like the puzzles a lot. However, I think older kids might want more of a challenge. Perhaps you could include larger puzzles although, this may be too time consuming at this point in the semester. Three, I think adding a “congratulations” when the user successfully completes the puzzle would be a nice touch.

Overall, I think you have a great project underway. I think your Jigsaw Puzzle site is really a great idea. I know I will be letting my kids at school use your site when they finish their work early. : ) I am excited to see your final site at the showcase!!

“Algebra – Solving Equations and Inequalities”

Hi Lisa,

I think your project is coming along nicely. I enjoyed talking with you briefly last Thursday. After class Thursday, I took a more in-depth look at your project and your ideas. There are three areas I want to comment on.

One, I really liked your idea of having students develop games to help them learn how to solve equations and inequalities. Your flowchart was really easy to understand. Your game themes (smile, baseball, and jeopardy) are great. I think the students will appreciate and enjoy the themes you chose; although, I wonder how the students will know how to develop the games on their own. Are you going to provide directions on how to create the Power Point games? I don’t know if all the students will know how to link questions, answers, and slides. Perhaps you could have a tutorial on how to make the games. I know a tutorial for each game may be a lot of work. Perhaps you could just pick one game and provide directions/ tutorial on it. I know this is just your prototype so perhaps you already have some other ideas on how you want to teach them to make the games. I like how you provided both a computer games section and a hard copy version. Many schools (like mine) can have computer problems; and that is a good back up for the teacher. Another idea I have that takes a different route is to have a game with the school mascot as a theme? Lastly, I understand your frustration with the interactions. It is difficult to have a lot of interactions when you are not super skilled at flash etc… Perhaps your interactions are more human to human?

Overall I think you have a great project underway. I think the students in Algebra are lucky to have you organizing and developing an exciting way to learn how to solve equations and inequalities. Good luck developing your project. I am excited to see your final product.

Hi Sabrina,

I love your Sewing 101 project! I enjoyed looking at your project during dress rehearsal. Your project has truly intrigued me; perhaps because I am interested in sewing myself. After Dress Rehearsal, I took another more in-depth look at your project so I could give you some feedback. There are a few areas I want to comment on.

One, I really like the way you've laid out your site. It is well organized and easy to understand. The color scheme you chose is very pleasant and pleasing. Two, it was a little confusing for me to navigate through the roll over areas (specifically “Words To Know”). I eventually realized I needed to just move the curser up top and over the letters. I also was unsure about clicking on the left buttons to navigate. Perhaps you can make them change color when you roll over them. This might make them more obvious for the user exploring the site. Three, I was again not sure if I could click on the names “Online Stores” and “Inspiration”.

Overall, I think you have a great project underway. I think your sewing 101 site is really a great idea. I know I will be checking it out when you are done. : ) I am excited to see your final site at the showcase!!

“My Big Project -”

Hi Clayton,

I think your project is coming along nicely. I enjoyed talking with you briefly last Thursday. After class Thursday, I took a more in-depth look at your project and your ideas. There are three areas I want to comment on.

One, I really like your idea of having teachers get excited about the technology available to them at your school. I think using humor is a great way to get them on board with technology. I am a little concerned with your scope. Your project, “My Big Project”, is very fitting. Do you think you can design and develop all that content? I think you may want to narrow your scope down to just a few areas for them to learn or is your intent to use pre-made tutorials and resources? If that is the case, than that is more feasible. I wish my school would provide a resource like that. I know you listed projectors, cameras, laptops, etc… but again maybe you could just pick one area to teach on. Where will you host all your resource? Perhaps your school will provide that, but it is important to look into that. Some hosts have limited space, and that can sometimes be a problem. I know UGA has a limit!  I experienced that when everything kicked back at the end of my EDIT 6190 semester. I went over my limit, and it caused me a lot of problems. I know it is early, and you have a lot more to design and create. What you have so far sounds really good though.

Overall I think you have a great project underway. I think the students in Algebra are lucky to have you organizing and developing an exciting way to learn how to solve equations and inequalities. Good luck developing your project. I am excited to see your final product.
